My name is Malgorzata Krzywanska and I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with over 12 years experience, working in both, organizational and private settings around London and on-line.
I am accredited member of BACP ,(MSc, UCL) continuously developing my knowledge and skills through CPD. My interest in psychotherapy started when I worked as a court curator in a child and young people department in Poland. This experience had made me reflect on how , as a professional, I can enable vulnerable people to make a real change in their life. I understood that often problems stem from our early childhood and that the therapeutic support has a profound impact on resolving degenerative habits of mind.
Psychodynamic approach in psychotherapy is focusing on our inner life, specifically trying to understand our unconscious thoughts and feelings. The great benefit of working in this approach is a real opportunity to reach to our deepest parts of mind, that often generate destructive of negative feelings. Psychodynamic approach is regarding the underlying factors affecting behaviour in a person, especially the subconscious mind. Everyone has experiences in their lives and childhoods that affect their day to day lives, choices, and behaviours. Working with those factors can enable life changing process. Therapeutic process itself is based on a weekly 50 minutes long session, where through a professional relationship we explore unconscious content, often reverse to a childhood and try to make sense of client's thoughts and feelings. Making sense of how we feel brings resolution to internal conflicts and helps living a happy and fulfilled life.
Issues I work with include depression, anxiety, both in children and adults; parental separation/divorce; developmental issues, transitions and displacement, abandonment and low self esteem, bereavement and loss, sexual abuse and trauma; anger issues and social withdrawal. I am also well experienced in working with looked after children and issues related to it, as well as in working with adolescents displaying various developmental and social difficulties. I am also developing a great interest in issues related to alcohol misuse amongst women and issues related to motherhood.
As in my work with adults, when working with children I aim to create a safe, confidential and non judgmental environment in which they can express their thoughts and feelings in the most comfortable way.
