Coming to therapy can feel like a big step. Perhaps you are going through a difficult period, feeling stuck or overwhelmed, or simply have a sense that you would like to understand yourself and your relationships more deeply. Whatever brings you here, you do not have to have everything figured out before we begin.
My aim is to offer you a safe, warm and accepting space where you can talk openly and be yourself, without judgement. I believe that feeling genuinely heard and understood is an important part of therapy, and I will work with you at a pace that feels comfortable and right for you.
Everyone is different, and there is no single approach that works for everyone. I draw on a range of counselling and psychotherapy approaches and tailor our work to your individual needs. For some people, therapy may focus on a particular difficulty and finding ways to manage what is happening in the here and now. For others, it may involve a deeper exploration of their experiences, relationships and patterns that have developed over time.
I am particularly interested in understanding what may lie beneath the difficulties we experience in the present. Sometimes, experiences from our past can continue to influence how we see ourselves, relate to others and respond to situations today. Exploring these connections together can bring a greater sense of understanding and, importantly, create the possibility for something to change.
Our relationship in therapy is also an important part of the work. The way we experience and relate to one another in the room can sometimes provide valuable insights into relationships and patterns outside therapy. We can gently explore these moments together, always with openness, curiosity and respect.
Whether you are looking for support through a particular difficulty or feel ready for a deeper journey of self-discovery, I will work collaboratively with you to understand what you need from therapy. My hope is that, through this process, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself, feel more able to navigate life’s challenges and find ways of living that feel more authentic and meaningful to you.
I have extensive experience of working therapeutically with children, young people, families and adults in both private and organisational settings. My experience began with children and young people, including children from the age of four, and has developed to include working with individuals and families across different stages of life.
I hold an MSc in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, awarded by Birkbeck, University of London, in 2011, as well as a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Supervision.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
I am also a practitioner recognised by Bupa, Aviva, WPA and Vitality.
Starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly if you have never spoken to a therapist before. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to talk about or where therapy will take you.
We can begin simply by talking about what has brought you here and what you would like to be different. From there, we can think together about how I might support you.
I would be very happy to hear from you and arrange an initial conversation.
